ASID Georgia Chapter Design Excellence Awards

Official Rules & Guidelines (Simplified – Internal & Public)


1. General Terms & Conditions (All Entrants)

By entering the ASID Georgia Chapter Design Excellence Awards (“Competition”), the entrant (“Entrant”) confirms that they have read, understand, and agree to the following:

·      Entrant is the original designer of the submitted project and has the authority to submit it.

·      No other individual or entity may claim authorship of the submitted design.

·      All information submitted must be accurate; false or misleading information will result in disqualification.

·      Judges’ decisions are final.

·      Entrant owns the copyright to all submitted materials or has secured written permission from the copyright holder(s).

·      Submitted materials must not infringe upon any third-party intellectual property or privacy rights.

·      Entrant grants ASID Georgia Chapter, ASID National, and their media partners a non-exclusive, perpetual, royalty-free license to use submitted materials for marketing, educational, promotional, and publication purposes in print and digital formats.

·      If selected as a Gold, Silver, or Bronze winner, Entrant agrees to allow professional photography of the project (with owner consent) for future promotional use.

·      Entrant agrees to indemnify and hold harmless ASID, the Georgia Chapter, and their representatives from claims arising from breach of these rules or misuse of submitted materials.


2. Professional Competition

Eligibility Requirements

·      Principal designer must be an ASID Georgia Chapter member in good standing.

·      Any team member using an ASID appellation must also be a Georgia Chapter member in good standing.

·      Only ASID members will be printed on awards.

·      Projects must be fully completed and physically installed.

·      Projects must have been completed within four (4) years of the Call for Entries date.

·      Projects previously awarded in this program are not eligible.

·      Eligible projects that were previously entered but not awarded may be resubmitted if still within the eligibility window.

Entry Rules

·      Each entry requires a separate entry fee.

·      Each project must be submitted into an eligible category.

·      Projects may be entered into multiple categories but may only win in one.

·      Required electronic signatures:

o   Photography Release

o   Owner Release

·      Anonymity is mandatory:

o   No designer, firm, or client names in narratives, images, file names, or forms.

o   Logos may appear only if integral to the built design.

o   Photos may not include people.

Reminder: Once submitted, entries cannot be edited. Non-compliant submissions may be rejected.


3. Professional Image & File Requirements

·      Project Photography: 2–4 images (JPG or PNG only)

·      Drawings: At least 1 floor plan or technical drawing (PDF), maximum of 2

·      Auxiliary Files (optional): Up to 4 (details, elevations, before/after, CAD, etc.)

Image Specifications

·      Resolution: Minimum 300 dpi

·      File Size: 2 MB minimum (4 MB preferred), 10 MB maximum

·      At least one horizontal and one vertical image recommended

·      Professionally shot images strongly encouraged

Winning projects may be published in Modern Luxury and Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles and must meet editorial standards.


4. Judging Process & Criteria (All Entrants)

·      Entries are judged anonymously.

·      Each entry is reviewed three times by three independent judges from other ASID chapters.

·      Entries are judged against ASID Georgia criteria, not against one another.

·      Judges may reassign categories at their discretion.

·      Not all categories are guaranteed an award.

·      Design Statement

·      Project Scope, Concept, and Solution

·      Innovation and Creativity for the End User

·      Functional Integration of Architecture and Finishes

·      Aesthetic Excellence

·      Effective and Creative Use of Space


5. Student Competition

Eligibility Requirements

·      Entrants must be enrolled (full- or part-time) in an accredited Georgia interior design program at the time the project was completed.

·      Principal designer must be an active ASID Georgia Chapter Student Member.

·      Work must be created in the entrant’s role as a student.

·      Student intern work is eligible only if unpaid and not used by a client.

·      Recent graduates may enter if the project was completed while enrolled within the last four (4) years.

Entry Rules

·      Projects must have been completed within four (4) years of the competition date.

·      Projects may be individual or group submissions.

·      Projects may originate from coursework, studio projects, independent study, or personal concepts.

·      Projects may be hand-drawn, digital, or mixed media.

·      Student projects may not be entered into multiple categories.

Individual Entries

·      One (1) entry per category per student.

·      Work must be solely created by the entering student.

Group Entries

·      One (1) entry per category per group.

·      Maximum of five (5) students per group.

·      At least one team member must be a current ASID Georgia Chapter Student Member.

·      One student must register and submit the project on behalf of the group.

·      All team members and roles must be listed.


6. Student Image & File Requirements

·      2–4 high-resolution JPEG images (300 dpi, max 10 MB each)

·      At least one floor plan or technical drawing (PDF)

·      One full board image plus close-up detail images (if applicable)

·      No videos or animations permitted

·      No identifying information (student name, school name, logos) in images or file names

All submitted materials become the property of the ASID Georgia Chapter for competition-related use.


7. Release Forms (All Entrants)

·      All entries must include a signed online Release Form.

·      Copyright holders must be identified.

·      Published projects will include customary photographer credit.
